William Henry Collins

William Henry Collins, born on October twenty-sixth, eighteen seventy-eight, was a distinguished Canadian geologist whose contributions to the field have left a lasting impact. His academic journey took him through prestigious institutions, including the University of Toronto, Heidelberg University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he honed his expertise in geology.

Collins dedicated thirty-one years of his career to the Geological Survey of Canada, a tenure marked by his leadership as Director for sixteen years. His role was pivotal in advancing geological research and understanding in Canada, showcasing his commitment to the scientific community.

In recognition of his significant contributions, Collins was honored as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, where he also served as President of the geological and biological sciences section.
