William Lane Craig, born on August 23, 1949, is a distinguished American analytic philosopher, Christian apologist, and theologian. He has made significant contributions to the fields of philosophy and theology, serving as a professor emeritus of philosophy at the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University.
Craig's academic journey began with a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Birmingham in 1977, followed by a second doctorate in theology from the University of Munich in 1984. His teaching career includes notable positions such as professor of the philosophy of religion at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School from 1980 to 1986, and a brief tenure as a professor of religious studies at Westmont College in 1986-1987. He also conducted research at KU Leuven from 1987 to 1994.
In addition to his role at Talbot, Craig taught philosophy at Houston Christian University from 2014 to 2024. He is renowned for his defense of the Kalam cosmological argument for the existence of God and has published extensively on the historical plausibility of the resurrection of Jesus. His scholarly work culminated in the influential book, God Over All, which explores divine aseity and Platonism.
