William Luther Pierce

William Luther Pierce, born on September eleventh, nineteen thirty-three, in Atlanta, was a prominent figure in the American white nationalist movement. With a background in physics, he earned his bachelor's degree from Rice University in nineteen fifty-five and later obtained a doctorate from the University of Colorado Boulder in nineteen sixty-two. His academic career began as an assistant professor at Oregon State University, but he transitioned to a role as a senior researcher at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut in nineteen sixty-five.

Pierce's political activism took shape as he became associated with George Lincoln Rockwell, the founder of the American Nazi Party. Following Rockwell's assassination in nineteen sixty-seven, Pierce co-led the National Youth Alliance, which eventually split in nineteen seventy-four, leading him to establish the National Alliance. For nearly three decades, he was at the forefront of this organization, which became a significant platform for his ideologies.

As a writer, Pierce is best known for his novels, particularly The Turner Diaries, published in nineteen seventy-eight, which depicts a violent revolution in the United States and has been linked to various acts of domestic terrorism, including the Oklahoma City bombing in nineteen ninety-five. His later work, Hunter, released in nineteen eighty-nine, follows the story of a lone-wolf assassin. In nineteen eighty-five, he moved the National Alliance's headquarters to Hillsboro, West Virginia, where he founded the Cosmotheist Community Church.

Throughout his life in West Virginia, Pierce hosted a weekly radio show titled American Dissident Voices and oversaw the publication of National Vanguard magazine, along with books from his publishing firm, National Vanguard Books, Inc., and the white power music label Resistance Records. His legacy remains controversial, marked by his influential yet divisive contributions to the white nationalist movement.
