William Njoku, a former professional basketball player, was born on March fifth, nineteen seventy-two, in Accra, Ghana. At the tender age of four, he immigrated to Canada with his parents, Lawrence and Catherine. Njoku's basketball journey began at Halifax West High School, where he showcased his talent despite facing injuries that sidelined him during most of his senior year. His high school team, the Warriors, unfortunately, did not reach the provincial championship finals in nineteen ninety.
Continuing his education and athletic career, Njoku attended Saint Mary's University in his hometown. His junior year proved to be a standout moment as he was awarded the Mike Moser Award, recognizing him as the Canadian Interuniversity Sport's Most Outstanding Player. Additionally, he earned the title of CIAU All-Canadian during both his junior and senior seasons, solidifying his reputation as a top player.
In nineteen ninety-four, Njoku was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA draft, being the forty-first pick overall. However, he did not make the NBA regular season roster and instead embarked on a decade-long professional career in Europe. His journey took him through various clubs, including Elan Sportif Chalonnais in France, Alba Berlin in Germany, and Besiktas in Turkey, among others. After retiring in nineteen ninety-nine due to a chronic back ailment, he made a successful comeback to professional basketball at the age of thirty-one in two thousand three.
Njoku represented Canada on the international stage, participating in the FIBA World Championships in nineteen ninety-four and nineteen ninety-eight. He also played for the Canadian national developmental team in a tournament in Argentina in two thousand seven. Following his retirement from professional play, he transitioned into coaching and motivational speaking, establishing his company, Will2Win. Currently, he resides in Moncton, New Brunswick, after spending many off-seasons in Toronto, and served as the Athletics Director at Crandall University from September two thousand seven to September two thousand ten.
