Willie Naulls

Willie Naulls, born on October seventh, nineteen thirty-four, is a celebrated figure in American basketball history. Growing up in California, he showcased his exceptional talent early on, earning the title of Mr. Basketball in high school. His collegiate career flourished at UCLA, where he garnered All-American honors in nineteen fifty-six, solidifying his reputation as a formidable player.

Naulls entered the professional arena when he was selected ninth overall by the St. Louis Hawks in the nineteen fifty-six NBA draft. His time with the Hawks was brief, as he was soon traded to the New York Knicks, where he would leave an indelible mark. During his tenure with the Knicks, he not only became a four-time NBA All-Star but also made history as the first African American captain of a professional team in a major American sport.

After a short stint with the San Francisco Warriors, Naulls concluded his career with the Boston Celtics. His time with the Celtics was particularly notable; in December nineteen sixty-four, he was part of a groundbreaking unit that became the first all-black starting lineup in NBA history.
