Wilson Palacios

Wilson Palacios, born on July 29, 1984, in La Ceiba, Honduras, is a former professional footballer renowned for his role as a defensive midfielder. His football journey began in his homeland, where he showcased his talent with clubs Victoria and Olimpia before making the leap to England.

In England, Palacios made a name for himself playing for Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic. His career took a significant turn in 2009 when he joined Tottenham Hotspur, where he primarily operated in central defensive midfield. Occasionally, he was deployed as a right midfielder, demonstrating his versatility on the pitch.

In August 2011, Palacios transferred to Stoke City for an undisclosed fee, speculated to be around six million pounds. Despite his potential, he faced challenges in making a lasting impact during his four seasons with the club, ultimately leaving in 2015.

After his time in England, Palacios ventured into the North American Soccer League, playing for Miami, before returning to Honduras to rejoin Olimpia and later play for Real Sociedad. He concluded his professional career in December 2019.

On the international stage, Palacios was a key player for the Honduran national team from 2003 to 2014, contributing to their qualification and participation in the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
