In England, Palacios made a name for himself playing for Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic. His career took a significant turn in 2009 when he joined Tottenham Hotspur, where he primarily operated in central defensive midfield. Occasionally, he was deployed as a right midfielder, demonstrating his versatility on the pitch.

In August 2011, Palacios transferred to Stoke City for an undisclosed fee, speculated to be around six million pounds. Despite his potential, he faced challenges in making a lasting impact during his four seasons with the club, ultimately leaving in 2015.
