Winnie Byanyima

Winnie Byanyima, born on January thirteenth, nineteen fifty-nine, is a distinguished Ugandan aeronautical engineer, politician, and diplomat. Currently serving as the executive director of UNAIDS since two thousand nineteen, she has made significant contributions to global health and human rights advocacy.

Before her role at UNAIDS, Byanyima was the executive director of Oxfam International from two thousand thirteen to two thousand nineteen, where she championed social justice and equality. Her career also includes a pivotal position as the director of the Gender Team in the Bureau for Development Policy at the United Nations Development Programme, a role she held starting in two thousand six.

In addition to her professional achievements, Byanyima is recognized as a passionate human rights activist and feminist, advocating for the rights of marginalized communities.
