Wu Jingzi

Wu Jingzi, born in 1701 in the city now known as Quanjiao, Anhui, was a prominent Chinese writer during the Qing dynasty. His literary contributions have left a lasting impact on Chinese literature, particularly through his satirical works.

He is best known for his novel, The Scholars, which is often regarded as the foremost satiric novel in Chinese literature. This work not only showcases his sharp wit but also critiques the societal norms and values of his time.

Wu Jingzi's life journey took him from his birthplace to Yangzhou, Jiangsu, where he passed away on January 11, 1754. His experiences and observations of the world around him greatly influenced his writing, allowing him to craft narratives that resonate with readers even today.
