Xiahou Dun

Xiahou Dun, born in the year one hundred fifty-five, was a prominent military officer and politician during the late Eastern Han dynasty of China. He served under the formidable warlord Cao Cao, becoming one of his most trusted generals. His military prowess was instrumental in various campaigns against notable adversaries such as Lü Bu, Liu Bei, and Sun Quan.

In a fateful encounter during the late 190s, Xiahou Dun lost his left eye when struck by a stray arrow while battling Lü Bu. This incident earned him the moniker 'Blind Xiahou,' a name that resonated throughout the ranks of his army. His resilience and bravery in the face of adversity became legendary.

The tale of Xiahou Dun's valor was further immortalized in the 14th-century historical novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. In this narrative, he is depicted as a fierce warrior who, after being wounded, famously ripped the arrow from his eye socket and consumed his own eyeball before rejoining the fray.

After Cao Cao's death, Xiahou Dun briefly served under Cao Pi, Cao Cao's successor, before his own demise on June thirteenth, two hundred twenty. His legacy as a one-eyed warrior and a loyal general continues to be celebrated in Chinese history.
