Yannick Dalmas

Yannick Dalmas, born on July 28, 1961, is a distinguished former racing driver from France, renowned for his remarkable achievements in endurance racing. He is celebrated for winning the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans four times, in the years 1992, 1994, 1995, and 1999, each victory coming with a different car manufacturer. This unique accomplishment sets him apart in the annals of the race's history.

Before his illustrious career in endurance racing, Dalmas made his mark in Formula One, participating in forty-nine Grands Prix. He made his debut on October 18, 1987, but only managed to qualify for twenty-four of those races. His best performance in Formula One came at the 1987 Australian Grand Prix, where he finished in fifth place, although he was not eligible for World Championship points at that event.

Dalmas's journey in Formula One was marred by health challenges. In late 1988, he was diagnosed with Legionellosis, which forced him to miss the final two races of the season. Although he made a recovery before the start of 1989, the effects of his illness were evident in his performance.

In 1994, Dalmas attempted a brief return to Formula One with the financially struggling Larrousse team, entering only two races. His comeback was fraught with difficulties, including a crash in Italy and a finish two laps off the lead in Portugal.
