Yasser Al-Habib

Yasser Al-Habib, born on January twentieth, nineteen seventy-nine, is a prominent Kuwaiti Shia scholar known for his eloquent oratory and insightful writings. He serves as the head of the Mahdi Servants Union, based in London, and is the founder of Al-Muhassin mosque located in Fulmer, Buckinghamshire. Al-Habib is also recognized for his literary work, particularly his book, The Lady of Heaven, which delves into Islamic history through both Shia and Sunni perspectives.

Al-Habib's journey in religious activism began in Kuwait, where he initially joined the Dawah Party. His commitment to his beliefs led him to establish the Khoddam Al-Mahdi Organization, a non-profit religious entity. His outspoken views on historical figures such as Abu Bakr and Umar sparked significant controversy, drawing sharp criticism from various Sunni speakers, including Othman al-Khamees, and igniting tensions within Arabic-speaking Sunni communities.

As a result of his controversial statements, Al-Habib faced legal repercussions, culminating in his arrest. In February two thousand four, he was released under a pardon issued by the Emir of Kuwait in celebration of the National Day. However, shortly thereafter, he was ordered to be rearrested. To evade a ten-year prison sentence, Al-Habib fled Kuwait, subsequently spending several months in Iraq and Iran before ultimately seeking asylum in the United Kingdom.
