Yejong of Goryeo

Yejong of Goryeo, born Wang U on February 11, 1079, ascended to the throne as the sixteenth king of the Goryeo dynasty following the death of his father, King Sukjong. His reign, which lasted until May 15, 1122, is often celebrated as a golden age for Goryeo, marked by significant advancements in the arts and philosophy.

Under Yejong's leadership, the kingdom experienced a flourishing of cultural and intellectual pursuits. This period saw the emergence of notable artistic achievements and philosophical thought, which contributed to the rich tapestry of Goryeo's heritage.
