Yingluck Shinawatra

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Yingluck Shinawatra

Yingluck Shinawatra, born on June twenty-first, nineteen sixty-seven, in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand, emerged as a prominent figure in Thai politics and business. Coming from a wealthy family of Chinese descent, she pursued her education in public administration, earning a bachelor's degree from Chiang Mai University and a master's degree from Kentucky State University. Yingluck's career began in the family businesses established by her elder brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, where she held significant executive roles, including president of SC Asset and managing director of Advanced Info Service.

In May two thousand eleven, Yingluck was nominated by the Pheu Thai Party, closely associated with her brother, as their candidate for Prime Minister. Her campaign focused on national reconciliation, poverty eradication, and corporate income tax reduction, leading to a landslide victory that made her Thailand's first female prime minister and the youngest in over sixty years since the Siamese revolution of nineteen thirty-two.

However, her tenure was marred by political turmoil. Following mass protests against her government in late two thousand thirteen, she called for a dissolution of parliament in December, which led to a snap election while she continued as caretaker prime minister. On May seventh, two thousand fourteen, the Constitutional Court removed her from office, citing abuse of power related to the dismissal of national security chief Thawil Pliensri.

After the military coup in May two thousand fourteen, Yingluck was arrested alongside former cabinet ministers and political leaders. She faced trial in two thousand sixteen but fled the country before the verdict in August two thousand seventeen, leading to an in absentia conviction and a five-year prison sentence. Currently rumored to be in London, she has taken on a new role as chairwoman and legal representative of Shantou International Container Terminals Ltd since December twelfth, two thousand eighteen.
