A member of the People Power Party, Yoon holds the record for the shortest presidency in the nation's democratic history. Prior to his presidential role, he was the prosecutor general from twenty nineteen to twenty twenty-one, where he gained recognition for his significant legal contributions.

Born in Seoul, Yoon pursued his education in law at Seoul National University, earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees. His career as a prosecutor was marked by high-profile cases, including the convictions of former presidents Park Geun-hye and Lee Myung-bak for corruption. His appointment as Prosecutor General by President Moon Jae-in in twenty nineteen positioned him at the forefront of major investigations, notably into Cho Kuk, which ultimately led to Cho's resignation as Minister of Justice.
