Renowned for her exceptional talent, she clinched an Olympic gold medal and a bronze medal, alongside an impressive tally of nine medals from European indoor and outdoor championships.
In nineteen eighty-six, Donkova set four world records in the 100 m hurdles, showcasing her dominance in the sport. Her fifth world record, an astonishing time of twelve point twenty-one seconds achieved in nineteen eighty-eight, remained unbroken for nearly twenty-eight years until it was surpassed by Kendra Harrison in two thousand sixteen.
