In nineteen eighty-two, Amano took a bold step into independence, establishing himself as a freelance artist. His talent flourished as he illustrated for various authors, notably contributing to best-selling novel series like The Guin Saga and Vampire Hunter D. His work in the video game industry is equally celebrated, particularly for his commissioned illustrations for the Final Fantasy franchise, which have left an indelible mark on the gaming world.
