Yulia Tymoshenko

Yulia Tymoshenko, born on November twenty-seventh, nineteen sixty, is a prominent Ukrainian economist, politician, and entrepreneur. She made history as the first woman to serve as Prime Minister of Ukraine, holding the position twice: first from January twenty-fourth to September eighth, two thousand five, and again from December eighteenth, two thousand seven, to March fourth, two thousand ten. Her political career includes multiple terms as a member of the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, where she served as a People's Deputy from nineteen ninety-seven to two thousand seven and resumed her role in two thousand fourteen.

As a leader of the Batkivshchyna political party, Tymoshenko has been a staunch advocate for Ukraine's integration into the European Union, opposing membership in the Russia-led Eurasian Customs Union and supporting NATO membership for Ukraine. She played a significant role in the Orange Revolution, which was pivotal in shaping Ukraine's political landscape.

In two thousand five, she was recognized as one of the world's most powerful women by Forbes magazine, ranking third. Tymoshenko's political journey has not been without challenges; she finished second in the two thousand ten presidential election, narrowly losing to Viktor Yanukovych. Following a politically charged criminal case, she was detained from two thousand eleven to two thousand fourteen but was later rehabilitated by the Supreme Court of Ukraine and the European Court of Human Rights.

After her release during the Revolution of Dignity, she again finished second in the two thousand fourteen presidential election, this time to Petro Poroshenko. Despite being a favorite in the polls for several years, she placed third in the first round of the two thousand nineteen presidential election, receiving thirteen point four percent of the vote. In two thousand nineteen, she was re-elected to Ukraine's parliament, continuing to lead her party in opposition.
