Throughout his career, Trofimov rode for notable teams including Bbox Bouygues Telecom from two thousand eight to two thousand ten, Team Katusha from two thousand eleven to two thousand fifteen, Tinkoff in two thousand sixteen, Caja Rural–Seguros RGA in two thousand seventeen, and finally, Rádio Popular–Boavista in two thousand eighteen.

One of the highlights of his career came in two thousand fifteen when he achieved a remarkable tenth place finish at the Giro d'Italia. Additionally, he earned the title of champion at the Russian National Road Race Championships, further solidifying his status in the cycling community.
