Yuri Zhirkov

Yuri Zhirkov, born on August 20, 1983, is a distinguished Russian football coach and former professional player, renowned for his versatility on the field as a left-back and left-winger. His football journey began at Spartak Tambov, a local club, before he made a significant leap to CSKA Moscow in 2004, where he quickly established himself as a key player.

During his time at CSKA Moscow, Zhirkov enjoyed considerable domestic and European success, which paved the way for his transfer to Chelsea in 2009 for a substantial fee of eighteen million pounds. His tenure in the English Premier League lasted two seasons before he returned to Russia, joining Anzhi Makhachkala, and later moving to Dynamo Moscow in 2013. In January 2016, he signed with Zenit, further solidifying his status in Russian football.

Zhirkov's international career has been equally impressive, earning over one hundred caps for the Russian national team since 2005. His standout performance at UEFA Euro 2008, where Russia reached the semi-finals, earned him a place in the Team of the Tournament and recognition as Futbol's Russian Footballer of the Year. He has also represented Russia in multiple major tournaments, including Euro 2012, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and Euro 2020.
