Zafrulla Khan

Zafrulla Khan, born on February sixth, nineteen hundred and ninety-three, was a distinguished Pakistani independence activist, diplomat, and jurist. He made history as the first Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, serving from nineteen forty-seven to nineteen fifty-four. His commitment to the cause of Pakistan was evident when he passionately advocated for the creation of a separate nation during the Radcliffe Commission, which delineated the borders of modern-day South Asia.

After his tenure as foreign minister, Zafrulla Khan continued to make significant contributions on the international stage. He is notably the only Pakistani to have presided over the International Court of Justice, a role he held from nineteen seventy until nineteen seventy-three. Additionally, he served as the President of the United Nations General Assembly, making him the only individual to have held both prestigious positions.

In August nineteen forty-seven, he relocated to Karachi and became a member of Pakistan's inaugural cabinet under the Liaquat administration. His diplomatic career flourished as he represented Pakistan at the United Nations, where he fought for Palestinian interests, earning him respect among Arab nations. In nineteen sixty-three, he assumed the presidency of the UN General Assembly in a de facto capacity for the State of Palestine.

After leaving the UN in nineteen sixty-four, he returned to the International Court of Justice, where he served as vice president until nineteen fifty-eight. Zafrulla Khan's legacy is marked by his dedication to international law and diplomacy, as well as his literary contributions on Islam in both Urdu and English. He passed away in Lahore in nineteen eighty-five at the age of ninety-two, leaving behind a profound impact on Pakistan and the world.
