Zain Javadd Malik, known to the world as Zayn Malik, was born on January 12, 1993, in England. He first captured the public's attention as a contestant on the British music competition The X Factor in 2010. Although he initially auditioned as a solo artist, he soon became a member of the iconic boy band One Direction, which achieved unprecedented success and became one of the best-selling boy bands in history.
In March 2015, Zayn made the bold decision to leave One Direction and embark on a solo career. He signed with RCA Records and released his debut studio album, Mind of Mine, in 2016. This album showcased a shift towards an alternative R&B style, and its lead single, "Pillowtalk," made history as he became the first British male artist to debut at number one in both the UK and US charts with his first single and album.
Following his successful debut, Zayn continued to make waves in the music industry with hit collaborations such as "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" alongside Taylor Swift and "Dusk Till Dawn" featuring Sia. His discography expanded with the release of his second album, Icarus Falls, in 2018, and his third album, Nobody Is Listening, in 2021. Fans eagerly anticipate his fourth studio album, Room Under the Stairs, set to release in 2024, and his fifth album, Konnakol, scheduled for April 17, 2026.
Throughout his career, Zayn has garnered numerous accolades, including an American Music Award and a MTV Video Music Award. Notably, he is the only artist to have won the Billboard Music Award for New Artist of the Year twice, first as a member of One Direction in 2013 and again as a solo artist in 2017.
