Zelym Kotsoiev

Zelym Kotsoiev, born on August 9, 1998, is a distinguished judoka representing both Ukraine and Azerbaijan, with a rich heritage rooted in Ossetian culture. His remarkable journey in judo has seen him rise to prominence on the international stage, showcasing his exceptional skills and determination.

At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, Kotsoiev achieved a career-defining moment by clinching the gold medal in the men's 100 kg event. This victory not only solidified his status as a top competitor but also added to his impressive collection of accolades.

Throughout his career, Kotsoiev has proven to be a formidable force in judo, earning three medals, including gold, at the World Judo Championships and four medals, also including gold, at the European Judo Championships. His dedication to the sport has made him a role model for aspiring athletes.

In July 2014, at the European Cadet Championships held in Athens, Greece, he made history by becoming the youngest champion of the tournament at the tender age of fifteen years and three hundred thirty-one days. This early success was a precursor to his continued excellence in martial arts.
