Zhang Gaoli

Zhang Gaoli, born on November first, nineteen forty-six, is a prominent figure in Chinese politics and economics. He held the esteemed position of first-ranking vice premier of China from two thousand thirteen to two thousand eighteen, and was a key member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party from two thousand twelve to two thousand seventeen.

Before rising to these influential roles, Zhang served as the Party Secretary of Tianjin from two thousand seven to two thousand twelve, and previously as the Party Secretary in Shandong province from two thousand two to two thousand seven. His leadership was characterized by a focus on finance, economic development, natural resources, the environment, and housing.

As the principal lieutenant to Premier Li Keqiang, Zhang chaired several significant projects, including the Three Gorges Dam, the South–North Water Transfer Project, and the One Belt One Road initiative. He also led the Commission on Food Safety of the State Council, showcasing his commitment to both economic growth and public welfare.

In November two thousand twenty-one, Zhang was embroiled in controversy when Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai accused him of sexual assault and mentioned an extramarital affair. This incident raised serious concerns regarding her safety and well-being, leading to widespread discussions about censorship and the treatment of women in China.
