Zhang Xun

Zhang Xun, born on September 16, 1854, was a prominent Chinese politician and general known for his unwavering loyalty to the Qing dynasty. With the courtesy name Shaoxuan and the art name Songshou Laoren, he became a significant figure during a tumultuous period in Chinese history.

His most notable endeavor came during the Manchu Restoration of 1917, where he made a bold attempt to reinstate the abdicated emperor Puyi. This act of loyalty to the Qing dynasty showcased his commitment to traditional imperial rule amidst the rising tide of republicanism.

In addition to his efforts to restore the Qing, Zhang Xun also played a crucial role in supporting Yuan Shikai during his presidency. His political maneuvers and military strategies were instrumental in shaping the political landscape of early twentieth-century China.
