Zhanna Bichevskaya, born on June seventeenth, nineteen forty-four in Moscow, is a celebrated Russian singer, poet, composer, songwriter, and guitarist. She graduated from the Moscow Circus and Performing Arts School in nineteen seventy-one and began her career as a music teacher in Zagorsk, now known as Sergiev Posad.
In the nineteen seventies, Zhanna gained recognition for her performances of Russian folk songs and romances, drawing inspiration from the renowned Bulat Okudzhava. Her unique blend of music, often described as Russian country-folk, earned her the affectionate title of the Russian Joan Baez, captivating audiences both in Russia and internationally.
As the eighties transitioned into the nineties, Zhanna's artistry evolved, incorporating more political, nationalist, and spiritual themes.
