Zheng Zhi, born on August twentieth, nineteen eighty, is a prominent figure in Chinese football, both as a former player and a current manager. His career began as a defender, but he soon transitioned to a central midfield role under the guidance of head coach Zhu Guanghu at Shenzhen Jianlibao. This shift proved fruitful, culminating in a league title victory in two thousand four.

After his successful stint at Shenzhen, Zheng moved to Shandong Luneng Taishan, where he enjoyed a prolific scoring period. His impressive performances earned him the captaincy of the Chinese national team, paving the way for international opportunities with clubs such as Charlton Athletic and Celtic.

In two thousand ten, Zheng returned to China, joining Guangzhou Evergrande, where he would leave an indelible mark on the club. Over the course of his career there, he made more than three hundred appearances as captain, leading the team to an unprecedented eight Chinese Super League titles and two AFC Champions League victories, making Guangzhou the only Chinese club to achieve such continental success.
