In 2017, Zhu showcased his talent by winning the national title at the Chinese Athletics Championships with an impressive jump of seventeen point seventeen meters. He further solidified his reputation by achieving a personal best of seventeen point twenty-three meters at the National Games of China, where he triumphed over notable competitors, including Olympic medallist Dong Bin and Asian Games champion Cao Shuo.

That same year, Zhu claimed the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships with a clearance of sixteen point eighty-two meters. His international experience continued as he placed seventh at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships, recording an indoor best of sixteen point eighty-seven meters, and finished eighth at the 2018 Asian Games.
