Ziauddin Barani

Ziauddin Barani, born in the year one thousand two hundred eighty-five, was a prominent Indian political thinker during the Delhi Sultanate, a period marked by significant political and cultural developments in Northern India. His intellectual contributions were particularly influential during the reigns of Muhammad bin Tughlaq and Firuz Shah Tughlaq.

Barani is best known for his seminal work, the Tarikh-i-Firoz Shahi, which chronicles the history of medieval India from the reign of Ghiyath al-Din Tughluq to the early years of Firoz Shah Tughlaq. This historical narrative not only provides insights into the political landscape of the time but also reflects the complexities of governance and society in the Sultanate.

In addition to his historical writings, Barani authored the Fatwa-i-Jahandari, a treatise that advocated for a hierarchical structure among Muslim communities in the Indian subcontinent.
