Zinaida Turchyna

Zinaida Turchyna, born on May seventeenth, nineteen forty-six, is a celebrated retired Ukrainian handball player. Throughout her illustrious career, she was coached by her husband, Ihor Turchyn, and represented the Soviet Union in numerous prestigious international tournaments from nineteen seventy-three to nineteen eighty-eight, with the notable exception of the boycotted nineteen eighty-four Summer Olympics.

During her competitive years, Turchyna achieved remarkable success, securing three Olympic medals and five world championship medals. Her dedication and skill on the court made her a formidable player, earning her a prominent place in the history of handball.

In the year two thousand, Zinaida was honored by a panel from the International Handball Federation and sports journalists, who recognized her as the best female handball player of the twentieth century. This accolade reflects her significant impact on the sport and her legacy as one of the greatest players in handball history.
