Zola Jesus

Nika Roza Danilova, known to the world as Zola Jesus, was born on April 11, 1989, in Phoenix, Arizona. She spent her early years in the serene landscapes of northern Wisconsin, where her passion for music blossomed. While pursuing her studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, she began to write and record music independently, laying the groundwork for her future career.

In her second year of college, Zola Jesus made her mark in the music industry by releasing two singles through the independent label Sacred Bones, followed by two EPs that showcased her unique sound. Her debut album, The Spoils, was unveiled in two thousand nine, marking the beginning of her journey as a prominent figure in the music scene.

After completing her education, Zola Jesus continued to evolve as an artist, releasing her second full-length record, Stridulum II, in two thousand ten, and Conatus in two thousand eleven. Her fourth album, Taiga, released in two thousand fourteen by Mute Records, represented a significant shift in her musical style, incorporating a more pop-influenced sound that broadened her appeal.

In two thousand seventeen, she released her fifth studio album, Okovi, further solidifying her reputation as a versatile and innovative artist. Zola Jesus's music is celebrated for its rich blend of electronic, industrial, classical, and goth elements, making her a distinctive voice in contemporary music. Interestingly, she is also related to United States Senator Amy Klobuchar, adding a unique twist to her already fascinating biography.
