Zoltán Almási

Zoltán Almási, born on August twenty-ninth, nineteen seventy-six, is a distinguished Hungarian chess player who has made significant contributions to the game. Awarded the prestigious title of Grandmaster by FIDE in nineteen ninety-three, he has claimed the title of Hungarian champion nine times, with victories spanning from nineteen ninety-five to two thousand nineteen.

Throughout his illustrious career, Almási has represented Hungary in thirteen consecutive Chess Olympiads from nineteen ninety-four to two thousand eighteen. His remarkable performances earned him team silver medals in two thousand two and two thousand fourteen, along with individual silver accolades in two thousand ten and two thousand sixteen.

In the FIDE World Chess Championship of two thousand four, Almási reached the fourth round, where he faced Rustam Kasimdzhanov, the eventual champion, ultimately losing the match two to zero. His prowess was further demonstrated in two thousand eight when he triumphed at the Reggio Emilia tournament in Italy, scoring five and a half points out of eight.

Almási crossed the notable FIDE rating threshold of two thousand seven hundred in November two thousand nine, achieving a peak rating of two thousand seven hundred four. The following year, he showcased his rapid chess skills by winning the European Rapid Chess Championship, where he outperformed five other competitors in tiebreak matches.
