Zoltán of Hungary, also known by variations such as Zolta, Zsolt, Solt, or Zaltas, is a significant historical figure believed to have been born around the year eight hundred ninety-six. He is recognized as the third Grand Prince of the Hungarians, succeeding his father, Árpád, around the year nine hundred seven.
Despite his mention in the Gesta Hungarorum, modern historians often question the legitimacy of his reign, as other historical chronicles do not include him among the rulers of Hungary. This has led to a debate regarding his actual ascension to the throne.
Nevertheless, there is a prevailing consensus among scholars that, regardless of whether Zoltán ever ruled, he played a crucial role in the lineage of Hungarian monarchs. All rulers from the House of Árpád after approximately nine hundred fifty can trace their ancestry back to him, highlighting his enduring legacy in Hungarian history.
