Zu Chongzhi

Zu Chongzhi, a prominent figure in Chinese history, was born in the year four hundred twenty-nine and lived until five hundred. His contributions spanned various fields, including mathematics, astronomy, and politics, during the Liu Song and Southern Qi dynasties.

Renowned for his remarkable precision in calculating the value of pi, Zu determined it to be between three point one four one five nine two six and three point one four one five nine two seven. This achievement set a standard in mathematical accuracy that would remain unchallenged for nearly nine centuries.
