Zuzana Licko

Zuzana Licko, born in 1961, is a distinguished Slovak-born American type designer and visual artist, celebrated for her innovative contributions to the world of typography. As a co-founder of Emigre Fonts, a prominent digital type foundry based in Berkeley, California, she has played a pivotal role in shaping contemporary graphic design.

Throughout her career, Licko has designed and produced a remarkable array of digital typefaces, with notable works including the widely acclaimed Mrs Eaves, Modula, Filosofia, and Matrix. Her designs are characterized by their unique aesthetic and functionality, making them favorites among designers and typographers alike.

In recognition of her significant impact on American graphic design, Licko was honored with the AIGA Medal in 1997. This accolade underscores her dedication to the craft and her influence on the design community.
