Al-Hadi

Al-Hadi, better known by his laqab al-Hādī, was a prominent figure in the Abbasid dynasty, serving as the fourth caliph. Born in the year seven hundred sixty-one, he ascended to the throne following the reign of his father, al-Mahdi. His rule commenced in the year one hundred sixty-nine AH, corresponding to seven hundred eighty-five CE, marking the beginning of a brief yet tumultuous period in Abbasid history.

During his short reign, which lasted until his death in one hundred seventy AH, or seven hundred eighty-six CE, Al-Hadi faced significant challenges. His leadership was marred by internal chaos and power struggles, particularly with his mother, who played a pivotal role in the political landscape of the time. This familial conflict contributed to the instability that characterized his governance.
