Alexander I of Scotland

Alexander I of Scotland, born in the year one thousand seventy-eight, was a significant political figure in medieval Scotland. He was the fifth son of Malcolm III and his second wife, Margaret, who was the sister of Edgar Ætheling, a notable prince from the pre-conquest English royal lineage.

Ascending to the throne after the reign of his brother, King Edgar, Alexander I ruled from one thousand one hundred seven until his death. His leadership marked a pivotal period in Scottish history, characterized by the consolidation of power and the strengthening of the monarchy.

In his personal life, Alexander was married to Sybilla of Normandy, an illegitimate daughter of Henry I of England. This union not only solidified political alliances but also reflected the intricate relationships between the Scottish and English crowns during that era.

Following his death, Alexander I was succeeded by his brother David, continuing the lineage of Malcolm III and ensuring the stability of the Scottish throne.
