Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Demetrius II Nicator

Demetrius II Nicator, a prominent figure in the history of the Seleucid Empire, was born in one hundred sixty-one BC. He was one of the sons of Demetrius I Soter, and it is believed that his mother was Laodice V, similar to his brother Antiochus VII Sidetes.

His reign was marked by two distinct periods, the first spanning from September one hundred forty-five BC to July or August one hundred thirty-eight BC. This initial rule was interrupted by a significant period of captivity in Hyrcania, located in Parthia, where he was held for several years.

Following his release, Demetrius II resumed his rule over the Seleucid Empire in one hundred twenty-nine BC. His leadership continued until his death in one hundred twenty-five BC. During the years between his two reigns, his brother Antiochus VII took the helm of the empire, navigating the challenges of the time.
