Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Mary I

Mary I, born on February eighteenth, fifteen sixteen, was a significant figure in English history, serving as Queen of England and Ireland from July fifteen fifty-three. She was the only surviving child of King Henry VIII and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. Despite being declared illegitimate after her parents' marriage was annulled in fifteen thirty-three, she was restored to the line of succession through the Third Succession Act in fifteen forty-three.

Her reign was marked by her vigorous attempts to reverse the English Reformation initiated by her father. Mary sought to restore Catholicism and reclaim church properties that had been confiscated during the Protestant reforms. However, her efforts faced substantial resistance from Parliament, and during her five-year rule, over two hundred eighty religious dissenters were executed, leading to her posthumous moniker, 'Bloody Mary.'

In July fifteen fifty-four, Mary married Philip of Spain, becoming queen consort of Habsburg Spain upon his accession in January fifteen fifty-six. This marriage was met with controversy in England, reflecting the tensions of the time. Following her death in fifteen fifty-eight, her efforts to re-establish Catholicism were swiftly undone by her half-sister, Elizabeth I, marking a significant shift in the religious landscape of England.
