Masawaiyh

Yuhanna ibn Masawaih, also known as Masawaiyh, was a prominent Persian physician and pharmacist born in the year seven hundred seventy-seven. His contributions to medicine were significant, and he was well-regarded in the medical community of his time.

Trained by the esteemed Jabril ibn Bukhtishu, Masawaiyh was a member of the Church of the East and honed his skills at the renowned Academy of Gondishapur. This institution was pivotal in the advancement of medical knowledge during the medieval period.

Masawaiyh's heritage is notable; his father hailed from Khuzestan, while his mother was of Slavic descent. This diverse background may have influenced his perspectives and practices in medicine.

His legacy continued to impact the field long after his passing in the year eight hundred fifty-seven, as his works were referenced by later scholars, including Avicenna in his Canon of Medicine.
