Olivia Harrison

Olivia Harrison, born on May 18, 1948, is an accomplished American author and film producer, best known as the widow of George Harrison, the legendary musician from The Beatles. Her journey in the music industry began in Los Angeles at A&M Records, where she first crossed paths with George. This meeting led to a partnership that extended beyond their personal lives, as she played a pivotal role in managing his Dark Horse record label.

In 1990, Olivia founded the Romanian Angel Appeal, a charitable initiative aimed at supporting the thousands of orphans left abandoned in Romania following the fall of Communism. Following George's passing in 2001, she has continued his legacy of international aid, collaborating with UNICEF on various projects and curating film, book, and music releases that honor his memory.

Olivia's influence on George's music was profound, particularly during the mid-1970s when their shared interest in Eastern mysticism and spirituality inspired a more optimistic tone in his work. Notably, she bravely intervened during a home invasion in December 1999, saving George's life from a knife-wielding intruder.

Among her notable achievements in film production, Olivia produced the Concert for George, which won a Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video in 2005. Additionally, her co-production of Martin Scorsese's documentary, George Harrison: Living in the Material World, earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special. She has also authored books to accompany these films and released a revised edition of George's autobiography, I, Me, Mine, in 2017.

Olivia's legacy continues through her son, Dhani Harrison, who has followed in his father's musical footsteps, ensuring that George's artistic and humanitarian spirit lives on.
