Sophia Magdalena of Denmark, born on July third, seventeen forty-six, was a prominent figure in Scandinavian history as the Queen of Sweden from seventeen seventy-one until seventeen ninety-two. She was the first daughter of King Frederick V of Denmark and Norway and his consort, Princess Louise of Great Britain. At the tender age of five, she was betrothed to Gustav, the heir to the Swedish throne, in a strategic move to ease the historically strained relations between Denmark-Norway and Sweden.

Her upbringing was meticulously crafted to prepare her for her future role as queen, culminating in her marriage to Gustav in seventeen sixty-six. Upon his ascension to the throne in seventeen seventy-one, Sophia became Queen of Sweden, with their coronation taking place on May twenty-ninth, seventeen seventy-two. However, the marriage, arranged for political gain, did not yield the expected benefits, and the couple's personal relationship was fraught with challenges.
