Aelia Eudoxia

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Aelia Eudoxia

Aelia Eudoxia, born in the year three hundred and one, rose to prominence as the Eastern Roman empress through her marriage to Emperor Arcadius. This union was orchestrated by Eutropius, a eunuch court official, who sought to enhance his own influence within the imperial court.

As Empress, Eudoxia found herself at odds with John Chrysostom, the Patriarch of Constantinople. Chrysostom was known for his outspoken criticism of both imperial and clerical excesses, which put him in direct conflict with Eudoxia's position and authority.

Throughout her life, Eudoxia bore five children, four of whom survived into adulthood. Among them was her only son, Theodosius II, who would later ascend to the throne as emperor. However, her journey through motherhood was marred by tragedy, as she experienced two additional pregnancies that ended in miscarriages or stillbirths.

Ultimately, Aelia Eudoxia's life was cut short due to complications from one of these later pregnancies, marking the end of a significant chapter in the history of the Eastern Roman Empire.
