Al-Mustansir II

Al-Mustansir II, born in the year one thousand one hundred ninety, was a significant figure in the history of the Abbasid Caliphate. He holds the distinction of being the first Abbasid caliph to rule from Cairo, a city that would become a pivotal center of Islamic culture and governance.

His reign, albeit brief, lasted from June one thousand two hundred sixty-one until November twenty-eighth of the same year. During this time, Al-Mustansir II found himself in a position of subservience to the Mamluk Sultanate, which was a powerful military and political entity in the region.
