Amélie of Leuchtenberg

Amélie of Leuchtenberg, born on July thirty-first, eighteen twelve, was a prominent figure in Brazilian history as the Empress of Brazil, married to Pedro I of Brazil. Her lineage was distinguished, being the granddaughter of Josephine de Beauharnais, the Empress of the French, which placed her in a unique position within European aristocracy.

Her father, Eugène de Beauharnais, was the only son of Empress Josephine and her first husband, Alexandre, Viscount of Beauharnais. This connection made Eugène a stepson of Napoleon Bonaparte, further intertwining Amélie's family with the powerful figures of her time.
