Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Andrey II of Vladimir

Andrey II of Vladimir, born in the year twelve hundred twenty-two, was a significant figure in the history of Russia, serving as the Grand Prince of Vladimir. He was the third son of Yaroslav II and ascended to the throne in twelve hundred forty-nine, following the reign of his uncle, Sviatoslav III.

His reign, however, was marked by challenges, particularly from the Mongol forces. Just three years after taking power, Andrey II confronted these formidable adversaries but ultimately faced defeat, leading to his ousting.

Despite the tumultuous nature of his rule, Andrey II's legacy continued through his descendants. The house of Nizhny Novgorod-Suzdal, which has been recognized since the fourteenth century as the House of Shuysky, traces its lineage back to him, ensuring that his influence persisted in Russian history.
