Andy Beshear

Andy Beshear, born on November twenty-ninth, nineteen seventy-seven, is a prominent American politician and attorney who has been serving as the sixty-third governor of Kentucky since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously held the position of the fiftieth attorney general of Kentucky from 2016 to 2019. Beshear is the son of Steve Beshear, who served as the governor of Kentucky from 2007 to 2015.

During his tenure as attorney general, Beshear was known for his vigorous legal challenges against the administration of Republican Governor Matt Bevin, particularly regarding pension reform and other significant issues. His political career took a decisive turn when he ran for governor in the 2019 election, where he narrowly defeated Bevin by approximately zero point four percent.

In 2023, Beshear was re-elected for a second term, this time by a more substantial margin of five percent, overcoming Republican attorney general Daniel Cameron. As of 2025, he and Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman stand as Kentucky's only Democratic officials elected statewide, highlighting their unique position in the state's political landscape.
