Birendra of Nepal

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Birendra of Nepal

Birendra of Nepal, born on December twenty-eighth, nineteen forty-five, ascended to the throne in nineteen seventy-two as the King of Nepal. He was the second son of King Mahendra, becoming crown prince due to the circumstances surrounding his elder brother's birth. His reign began under the panchayat system, which was inherited from his father, and he ruled as an absolute monarch.

In the wake of the political upheaval during the revolution of nineteen ninety, King Birendra took significant steps to modernize the governance of Nepal. He disbanded the panchayat system, lifted the ban on political parties, and promulgated a new constitution, transitioning the nation towards a democratic constitutional monarchy.

However, his reign was not without challenges. The latter part of his rule saw the onset of the Nepalese Civil War, which began in nineteen ninety-six when the Communist Party of Nepal initiated an insurgency. This period marked a tumultuous chapter in Nepal's history, culminating in the tragic events of the royal massacre in two thousand one, which led to his untimely assassination.
