Cleopatra III

Cleopatra III was a prominent queen of Egypt, whose reign was marked by significant political alliances and familial ties. She initially ruled alongside her mother, Cleopatra II, and her husband, Ptolemy VIII, from one hundred forty-two to one hundred thirty-one BC. This partnership laid the groundwork for her future influence in the Ptolemaic dynasty.

Her reign continued as she governed with her sons, Ptolemy IX and Ptolemy X, from one hundred sixteen to one hundred one BC. Cleopatra III's ability to navigate the complexities of royal family dynamics showcased her political acumen and strength as a monarch.

Known by various titles, Cleopatra III was referred to as Cleopatra Euergetis during her association with Ptolemy VIII and Ptolemy X. Additionally, she was recognized as Cleopatra Philometor Soteira in relation to her eldest son, Ptolemy IX. Strabo even noted her as Kokke when discussing her connection to Ptolemy X, highlighting her multifaceted identity within the royal lineage.
