Euphrosyne Doukaina Kamatera

Euphrosyne Doukaina Kamatera, born in the year one thousand one hundred fifty-five, was a prominent figure in Byzantine history, known for her marriage to Emperor Alexios III Angelos. Her lineage traced back to the influential Doukas family, as she was the daughter of Andronikos Doukas Kamateros, a high-ranking official who held the esteemed titles of megas droungarios and pansebastos.

Her mother, an unknown member of the Kantakouzene family, further solidified Euphrosyne's noble heritage. This connection placed her within the intricate web of Byzantine aristocracy, linking her to notable figures such as Emperor Constantine X and Irene Doukaina, the empress consort of Alexios I Komnenos.

Despite her noble birth, Euphrosyne's family faced turmoil; both of her brothers rebelled against the ruling Emperor Andronikos I Komnenos, leading to one being imprisoned and the other blinded.
