Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Gabby Giffords

Gabby Giffords, born on June eighth, nineteen seventy, is a prominent American figure known for her remarkable journey as a politician and gun violence prevention advocate. Raised in Tucson, Arizona, she pursued her education at Scripps College and Cornell University before embarking on a career that began in New York City with Price Waterhouse, focusing on regional economic development. Eventually, she returned to Arizona to lead El Campo Tire Warehouses, a family business founded by her grandfather.

Giffords' political career took off when she served in the Arizona House of Representatives from two thousand one to two thousand three, followed by her tenure in the Arizona Senate until two thousand five. In January two thousand seven, she made history as the third woman from Arizona to be elected to the U.S. Congress, representing the eighth congressional district. However, her promising career faced a tragic turn when she was shot in the head during an assassination attempt in January two thousand eleven, just as she began her third term.

Despite the severe brain injury, Giffords demonstrated incredible resilience, recovering much of her ability to walk, speak, read, and write. Her return to the House floor in August two thousand eleven was met with a standing ovation, a testament to her strength and determination. Following her attendance at President Obama's State of the Union address in January two thousand twelve, she formally resigned from Congress, receiving accolades from her colleagues.

Since leaving Congress, Giffords has dedicated her life to advocating for gun violence prevention and safety laws. In January two thousand thirteen, she and her husband, former Space Shuttle Commander Mark Kelly, founded Americans for Responsible Solutions, a non-profit organization that later merged with the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, now known as the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Through her advocacy, Giffords continues to inspire many in the fight for safer communities.
